Bull Fight

Even with legislation passed this issue is still horrifying to me. Phoebe Prince, a 15 year old girl committed suicide after being bullied for 4 months.

This has been going on since the dawn of time I'm sure but it seems like every year it gets more out of hand. Where is the help for these children that are endlessly harassed? It seems like any reason can be given for a child to harass another child. Appearance, attire, social status, grades, beliefs, fears, actions or absolutely no reason at all.

I have two boys 14 and 17. My 17 year old attends a local high school and since his freshman year he has talked about fights that he has seen. Most because someone just wanted to smack someone. For no good reason really. My 14 year old has been on the receiving end of the harassment even to the extent that he had to be pulled out of school for a semester because the kids were relentless.

So whose job is it to try and fix the situation? Legislation has been passed but where has that helped? After the fact? Teachers have their hands full but yet that is who we entrust our children with 8+ hours a day. Parents have the responsibility to teach their children what is right and wrong and somehow what is right is getting missed.

When children die for something so useless as other children not having the respect for other human beings there is a problem!
