Whoever has ever put a price on a life would probably have a bond with a California couple that the majority of the human race would not. In Salinas, CA a couple were arrested for child endangerment for trying to sell their baby for $25 in front of Wal-Mart.
Things like this just take the cake in my book. I can't even begin to believe that anyone would be out of their minds enough to put a 6 month old baby up for sale at Wal-Mart for $25! There are plenty of couples who are childless who would be outstanding parents if given the chance. They would typically pay thousands of dollars to adopt a child. In an instance such as that I believe it is a blessing for that couple to receive such a precious gift. Not because they paid thousands of dollars but because for what ever reason the natural birth parent could not keep the child, instead that child begins a life with loving and nurturing parents.
But to put a price of $25 on the head of a baby at Wal-Mart is unforgiving. Obviously that baby should be place in a home where the parents could never place a value on it's worth. The couple approached two women initially and they thought perhaps that the couple was joking. The father then became persistent and the women knew something was wrong.
Thankfully they took down the license plate number and notified the police. When the police arrived at the residence, it was believed that they were on methamphetamine. The report by the police noted that the mother of the child had admitted to breast feeding while on methamphetamine.
The child is now in the custody of Child Protective Services and the couple are to arraigned today. They have other pending charges against them other than just child endangerment.
I have to wonder if the parents were not high on meth if they still would have considered selling their baby? If you were taking or addicted to a drug that made your mind loose all sense of reason, would you not be able to stop? This entire ordeal is why birth control was invented and meth should not have been!!!!!!! After working in the pharmaceutical industry and seeing the extraordinary number of people who constantly buy pseudo ephedrine (mostly for making meth) why has it not become a controlled substance to help prevent meth being so accessible?
There are two very wrong issues with this story, neither of which I ever wish to read about again!
